Treatment. A person with a major depressive illness will need professional help. Treatment is available in the form of medication, counselling & in other cases cognitive behavioral therapy. Patients may often take medication for a number of months & sometimes require repeated treatments. Minor depression in men & women will often respond to programs of exercise. Regular exercise can improve mood in people with mild to moderate depression & may even play a supporting role in treating severe depression. I read that exercise such as walking fast for about 35 minutes a day five times a week or 60 minutes a day 3 times a week significantly improved symptoms in people with mild to moderate depression.Another factor in dealing with depression involves the food we eat. Changes in them may also ease some of the situation.Poor diet can make you vulnerable to depression.Junk food diet that is high in processed meat,chocolates,sweet desserts,fried food,refined cereals & high fat dairy products could lead one to fall into depression.When you eat your veggies,you are benefitting your brain as well as your body.Not that it’s a solution to everything but it goes without saying that since depression is a complex subject,a healthy diet is just a part of an overall wellness program that will assist in reducing the problem.
Some effective health habits that one can adopt to ease & maybe avoid depression include; eating healthfully,a well balanced plant-based diet,Having regular sleep & rest routines,exercising regularly in the outdoors,cultivating meaningful relationships with family & friends.

Changing your pattern of thought, trying to focus your mind on possibilities & positive things.Most importantly seek professional help if you experience symptoms of depression for prolonged periods & then follow the prescribed treatment of qualified health personnel.The strongest antidote for depression is social support,they thrive in warm,loving relationships,close friendships & strong family ties that makes all the difference.
